Amazing Animals
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this letter finds you well. As we begin our new term, I wanted to share with you the exciting learning journey your children will be embarking on.
Our Expedition Topic this term is “Amazing Animals.” We will be studying a range of animals, exploring how they adapt to their environments, and considering the incredible diversity of life across the world. As part of this project, the children will also have the opportunity to create their own mini documentary videos in the style of Sir David Attenborough, combining research, presentation skills, and creativity.
In Literacy, we will begin by analysing William Blake’s famous poem “The Tyger”, looking closely at its language, imagery, and meaning. We will also be reading The Last Bear by Hannah Gold, which will act as a key text for developing comprehension skills such as inference and deduction. This powerful story will also provide a rich stimulus for our own creative writing activities.
In Mathematics, our focus will be on strengthening the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and embedding these skills as we move into work on decimals, fractions, and percentages, as well as converting between them. We will also be applying our knowledge to real-life money problems, helping to boost financial literacy and problem-solving skills.
In RVE (Religion, Values and Ethics), our key question will be: “What type of king was Jesus?” Through this, we will explore the concept of the Kingdom of God and reflect on Jesus’ role as a leader and teacher.
We are really looking forward to an exciting and engaging term ahead, filled with opportunities for curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Thank you, as always, for your continued support with your child’s learning.
