Global Neighbours is an accreditation scheme which recognises and celebrates all that schools are doing to empower their young people to be active global citizens. It was developed by Christian Aid in partnership with the Church of Wales with the particular needs and aspirations of church schools in mind. However, the scheme is open to all schools in England, Wales and Scotland, regardless of faith affiliation.
Working Towards the Bronze Award: What Have We Been Doing?
As part of our commitment to global citizenship and social justice, our school is actively working towards achieving the Bronze Award through the Christian Aid Global Neighbours programme. This journey reflects our dedication to embedding values of compassion, equity, and responsibility into the everyday life of the school.
One of our recent highlights was our enthusiastic participation in Christian Aid’s 70K in May Challenge. Throughout the month of May, pupils took part in a daily walk or run around the school field with the collective goal of reaching 70 kilometres.
-
💪 The children showed incredible determination and teamwork, engaging in the challenge every day.
-
💰 We raised an impressive £357, thanks to the generosity of our school community.
-
🦟 The funds will provide 70 mosquito nets, helping to protect families in areas affected by malaria.
This challenge not only promoted physical activity and community spirit, but also deepened children’s understanding of global health inequalities and the importance of small actions making a big difference.
By taking part in such meaningful activities, our school is actively living out the values of global neighbourliness—fostering empathy, awareness, and real-world impact. It is one of many steps we are taking on our path to achieving the Bronze Award, and reflects our growing identity as a school committed to justice, compassion, and active global citizenship.
