Nursery Spring Term 2026
Let’s Explore
Spring Term 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas break. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year and to thank you very much for the kind gifts and vouchers—it was greatly appreciated.
This term, the children will be exploring two exciting topics: “Winter” and “Let’s Explore.”
During our Winter topic, the children will investigate the world around them through Science and Technology. They will observe seasonal changes, explore ice and snow, learn how animals keep warm, and experiment with materials to see how they react to cold temperatures.
Our Let’s Explore topic focuses on Humanities, helping the children to learn about the environments they share with others, including their homes, school, and local community.
We will also follow any celebrations that occur during the term, as well as the children’s own interests, ensuring learning remains fun, relevant, and child-led. The attached medium-term planning outlines how we aim to develop these topics across the term, while remaining responsive to the children’s ideas and interests through ongoing observations.
This term, we will continue working on Phase 1 and Phase 2 phonics.
In class, the children are working very hard on learning to write their names. You can support this at home by encouraging them to begin with a capital letter and to form each letter correctly. We are using Read Write Inc. rhymes to support letter formation (these have been sent via Seesaw).
PE lessons will continue to take place on Thursday mornings. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed in their PE kit, and that all clothing is clearly labelled.
As the children spend a lot of time outdoors, please ensure they have a warm coat every day. Hats, gloves, and scarves should also be labelled. If possible, please include a spare change of clothes in your child’s bag.
Thank you once again for your continued support. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind regards, Mrs Davies
