Teeny,Tiny Things

Dear Parents

Our topic this Summer half term is ‘Teeny, Tiny Things’.

This project has a Knowledge and understanding of the Words focus and enables children to explore details of both the natural and man-made world, using a range of methods and resources to observe tings carefully.

We will learn about:

How to look for tiny details with care and concentration.

Equipment such as hand lenses, pooters and microscopes to observe things closely.

Small wonders of the natural world.

How to use a camera to take pictures.

Intricate patterns seen on both natural and man-made objects.

Representing ideas, observations and creativity, using drawing, mark making, technology and words.

Using creative skills to design, make and talk about a range of objects and artefacts linked to the theme.

The Topic Web attached , will show you what we hope to cover over the next few weeks.

A few of the children are now on reading books, please make sure that their reading book & reading diary is brought to school each day. Can you also ensure that you look after the book by putting them in a plastic case/folder? They are available from the school secretary for £2.50.

The children will continue to have ‘Sounds’ books – it would seem that lots of them have gone missing over the year! Please let me know if you would like to have one & we will endeavour to replace it! These books MUST be given in every Tuesday, in order to mark & return with a new ‘Sound’ on Wednesday.

We are making great progress with the ‘Phase 2’ sounds please continue to practise these with your child.… we are using the ‘Jolly Phonics’ songs to help us.

We always hope for some fine weather during this term, so can you check that ALL clothing is clearly labelled…!? Including hats/coats/jumpers etc. Please start the day by putting some suncream on your child if it looks like the sun will shine! We do check and keep a close eye on them, when they get outside, but it does help.

Snack money – this is still £2.00 per week. The money is used to pay for your child’s snack everyday, plus cooking activities and everyday resources. The total for the summer term works out at £22 (10weeks total). Please could this be paid by Monday 6th May 2019.

As always, please feel free to get in touch if you have any concerns…

Many Thanks!
